Of all the various Ghost Sign web sites and blogs, the Lewis & Skinner story is the most facsinating and well worth your time visiting to learn more.
There are 2 web sites both expertly authored by Dr Stefan Schutt from Victoria University:
The Lewis & Skinner archive details the work documents, whereas Find the Radio Book provides more information about the discovery along with photographs of existing ghost signs.
Lewis & Skinner archive
The abandoned documents of the Melbourne signwriting company Lewis & Skinner (1900s – 1960s) were discovered at a demolition site in Footscray in February 2012 by Dr Stefan Schutt. The documents tell the story of hundreds of signwriting jobs across Melbourne and Victoria.

Finding the radio book
Here Dr Stefan Schutt tells the stories associated with the documents from the archive of Lewis & Skinner, and the tattered books of correspondence connected with writer Morris West. Plus the more general exploration of ‘ghost signs’ that my discovery has sparked.
